New York State Colleges and Universities New York State Private Colleges and Universities - a web site for the private colleges within New York State with links that can be accessed geographically or alphabetically. State University of New York (SUNY) Colleges and Universities - a web site for the public colleges within New York State with map links to individual campus web sites. Nationwide College Search Tool College Navigator - a NEW nationwide search tool from the U. S. Department of Education that provides extensive information about colleges and universities across the U. S. College Applications SUNY Online Application - you can use the online application to apply to most of the four year colleges, colleges of technology, community colleges and university centers in the State University of New York system. You can also download a paper copy of the application. Remember to inform your counselor if you apply online. Your transcript and personal profile will need to be sent to complete your file. Each SUNY application you send will cost $40.00 per college. The Common Application - you can use this online site to access the common application accepted by many in state and out of state private colleges. Free Applications in the Guidance Office - we have applications in our office for you to use at no cost from Cayuga Community College, Onondaga CC, Herkimer CC, Jefferson CC, Mohawk Valley CC and Finger Lakes CC. Tompkins-Cortland Community College offers a free online application only. Click here for their free application page. Private College Applications - you will need to contact the private colleges to which you plan to apply. You can pick up an application from one of the many representatives who will visit our office throughout the year (see College Representatives above), from representatives at our College Day event in October or go to their web site to see how you can apply online. College Planning CollegeView provides up-to-date information on colleges and universities with easy-to-use college search features as well as information on a variety of careers and college majors. Peterson's provides interested students with college search capabilities. College Board provides a college search engine with the ability to compare initial college choices. Career Planning Career Zone allows you to search through a variety of career options, assess your interests and strengths and build a personal portfolio to save for later use. The Occupational Outlook Handbook is a publication of the U. S. Department of Labor Statistics that details trends in the labor force including the training and education needed for specific occupations, prospects for employment in the next several years and expected income information.
