Fulton City Schools ... Expanding Minds and Opportunities

The sky's the limit for children today. They can accomplish anything.

It's our job to provide the opportunities and the tools for them to reach their goals.

In Fulton Schools, you'll find us working hard to prepare our youth for the future. And we are succeeding-both in the areas of technology, and in the essential areas of reading, writing and arithmetic. The New York State Education Department gives our students high marks. Fulton Schools surpassed the mean performance of all similar public schools. Well-prepared students will have a competitive edge as they prepare for college or the job market.

Academic proficiency, however, is not the sole measure of our success. Extra-curricular activities are abundant and play a major role in giving our students the well-rounded background they need to succeed.

The "City" District

The Fulton City School District serves students of the city proper as well as those from the surrounding towns of Granby, Volney, Minetto, Oswego, Palermo and Scriba.

Quality From Preschool Through High School

Preschool programs and full-day kindergarten sessions introduce our youngest students to everything from broad social interaction to the basic academic and analytical skills that will form the foundation for their learning years.

A quality education is built upon the district's Standards of Excellence. From this we provide a comprehensive curriculum with programs that focus on preparing our students for a wide range of potential career paths. Some of the highlights include:

  • A strong academic program that features Accelerated and Advanced Placement Courses
  • Business and technology occupational education
  • Study opportunities in four languages (German, Spanish, French, Latin)
  • Award-winning music and art studies
  • Extensive extra-curricular activities like interscholastic sports, drama, a science Olympiad, the Oswego County Academic League, science fairs and envirothon
  • A pre-engineering preparatory program

The Schools

Elementary

Fulton's four elementary schools: Fairgrieve, Granby, Lanigan and Volney - offer locations of the greatest convenience to our pupils and parents. Bus transportation is provided for those students eligible according to board policy.

The certified elementary staff provides speech therapy, remedial reading and special education. In addition, support services include a school psychologist, nurse, and a home school liaison.

Beyond the basic curriculum, these schools also provide instruction in art, music, library skills, computer literacy, health and physical education.

Jr. High and High School

As students blossom into young adults, they are provided with instruction and opportunities needed to prepare them for college, advanced technical training or the workforce.

Included in basic programs are a comprehensive music program, drama, art and technology, special education, physical education, remedial services, foreign language instruction, business and many other course selections.

Our students are able to take advantage of the Burton Ramer Technical Career Center as well as the School for exceptional Children at the Board of Cooperative Educational Services(BOCES) facility in neighboring Mexico.

At G. Ray Bodley High School, college level courses are available in American history, English, Chemistry, Biology, Calculus, Economics and Computer-aided design, as well as Technical Preparation(Tech Prep) courses, Onondaga Community College courses and Cayuga Community College courses.

The High School's Foreign Exchange Program enables our students as well as those from abroad to experience each other's cultures.

Outside the Classroom

Opportunities are unlimited for extra-curricular activities in Fulton schools. Students' lives are enriched by drama, orchestra, concert and jazz bands, chorus, academic clubs, a radio program, web site design, and an award-winning school newspaper.

Sports Activities

Our athletics program includes baseball, basketball, bowling, cheerleading, cross-country running, football, golf, gymnastics, hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field, volleyball and wrestling.

For adult learners, evening Adult Education courses extend learning opportunities to everyone in our community. Among the program areas are computer literacy, writing, drivers' education, aerobics, accounting, swimming and other popular areas of interest. Adult Education also offers a program to earn a high school equivalency diploma.
